Easter Day Retreat – I have Seen the Lord! (John 20:1-18)

Lent is a season of “bright sadness” which leads to Easter!
The first Easter morning, “It was a revived and elated Mary
[Magdalene] who burst in on the disciples and exclaimed, ‘I have
seen the Lord.’ No longer theory! Nor head knowledge, or even
past knowledge, but a real encounter and a lived experience.”  (1)

I have seen the Lord! “This is the news that will rock the whole
world! Except that the world was not around to see it. It was a
quiet appearance. … This once-in-a-lifetime event was reserved
only for those who loved Him. ” (2)

We will follow Mary Magdalene, from her deep sorrow of
weeping and seeking to the great joy of beholding the risen
Lord!
